The Chinese Foreign Ministry said China reserves the right to any necessary response after the US military destroys a Chinese balloon that has entered US airspace. It is reported by Bloomberg.

The United States shot down an aircraft over the Atlantic Ocean on February 4. Washington claims that he was engaged in surveillance of American strategic facilities.

Beijing called Washington’s actions “obvious overreaction” and a violation of existing international practices. The Chinese Foreign Ministry insists that the balloon was intended for civilian purposes and entered US airspace by accident.

A Chinese balloon was spotted in early February over Montana, where the Malmstorm Air Force Base and nuclear missile silos are located. The American fighter aircraft, which later flew over North Carolina, was shot down on February 4 over the Atlantic Ocean, a couple of tens of kilometers from the coast.

US President Joe Biden explained that he gave the order to shoot down the balloon on February 1, but the Pentagon carried out the operation later to wait until the device reached the safe zone.
