For the commemoration of the 22 years of cantonization of San Vicente, this Friday, November 12, the fifth edition of the artisanal fishing festival “Anzuelo de Plata 2021” will take place.
From 06:00 the contest will begin in the municipal dock of that Manabi town. There, the person who catches the heaviest specimen, the largest volume of catch and the rarest fish will be awarded. Simultaneously the nautical competition of mountain canoes (wooden propelled by rowing) will take place.
In addition, starting at 10:00, a gastronomic fair will take place at the fairgrounds that will feature the exhibition of artisanal fishing associations and will be enlivened with artistic presentations.

At night, at 9:00 p.m., in the same place, with the participation of representatives of fishing associations from the north of Manabí, the election of the queen of the fifth festival will be held. In this space, the awarding of the winners of fishing contests is planned, as well as an artistic show and popular dance.
The festival is organized by the Association of Fishing Production, Shipowners and Artisanal Fishermen and related June 10, with the support of the Municipality of San Vicente and the Vice Ministry of Aquaculture and Fisheries, through the National Directorate of Artisanal Fisheries, said Marco Barreto, coordinator of the event.
