Three universities lead the interest of high school graduates for higher education during this 2023 period, once the first phase of the national registry was completed.

This stage corresponding to the Costa-Galápagos regime was enabled for 15 days, between December 29, 2022 and January 12, 2023.
What university would you like to apply to? It was one of the options to complete in that registration that was made to high school graduates. Other alternatives to complete were place of residence, if they had a disability, ethnic self-determination, race, and more information.
According to the Secretary of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (Senescyt), there was more interest in the University of Guayaquil, the Central University and the State University of Milagro.
To a lesser extent, there were those who opted for universities in Chimborazo and few for the University of the Arts.
Some 400,000 people entered their data on that platform.
But Andrea Montalvo, head of the Senescyt, said that this is not an indicator of how many would finally apply for higher education, until they register at the universities.
Universities define the 2023 admission calendar and make a proposal to the Senescyt for admission

Of the 400,000 registered, 77,000 are people who would graduate from high school in the Costa-Galapagos regime soon and who would like to continue their studies in public universities.
The bulk of this group corresponds to those who have not obtained quotas in previous years. 280,000 high school graduates annually, it was indicated.
Once the national registry is finished, the admission phase is in force between January and March.
The Assembly of the Higher Education System has raised the possibility that the grade obtained in the admission exam of a first chosen university remains valid to apply for a second option and not take the test again.
The idea of the approach is that a single test given at any university is valid for the other alternatives in case of not obtaining a place in the center that is wanted in the first instance.
Without a larger budget, the student union questions whether Senescyt passes the university admissions process
“Those people who do not reach a place in a university can capture another place, in another university, perhaps through an agreement that we have to make,” said Arturo Rojas, president of the Assembly of the Ecuadorian Higher Education System.
Andrea Montalvo, head of the Senescyt, indicated that in the use of the autonomy of the universities and in the way in which they sign agreements and conventions, there is the possibility that the proposal will materialize.
“Maybe do it by territory, by type of university. The possibility is open for them to do so (…), and if the note can be taken, by means of an agreement, from another university, in good time,” said the official.
In September 2022, the last Transform test was taken that allowed access to higher education, but in charge of the Senescyt.
On that occasion there was the possibility of applying for three career options in order of priority.
Then, the process was transferred to public universities and polytechnic schools.
For this 2023 admission process, those interested have no limits to choose universities and careers.
These are the last ten university or higher degrees created in Ecuador and they are in Guayaquil, Joya de los Sachas, Quito, Babahoyo and Azogues
In the last process in charge of the Senescyt there were 130,000 places available.
The official is optimistic that there will be more places, taking into account that more than 181 careers have been created in institutes, some 500 careers in universities, budget increase, regulation flexibility so that there are more venues, extensions and study modalities, but added that It is important that universities diversify their academic offer.
A second phase of the national registry would be from July. (YO)
