The United States will transfer $135 million to restore the Ukrainian economy and help Moldova from the liquidated US-Russian Investment Fund (TUSRIF). This follows from a statement on the US Agency for International Development (USAID) website.

The agency will send another $18 million to the US-Russian Fund for Economic and Legal Development (USRF, recognized as an undesirable organization in Russia) – this money will go to support Russian civil society and independent organizations.

TUSRIF was created by the US administration in 1995 to organize investments in the Russian economy with the assistance of USAID. TUSRIF has invested primarily in media, consumer goods, retail, financial services, information technology and telecommunications. In 2008, the fund was liquidated.

The USRF was created as his successor by decision of former US President George W. Bush and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The objectives of the fund were called support for the development of the market economy in Russia and the strengthening of Russian-American ties. In December 2015, the USRF in Russia was recognized as an “undesirable organization” by the decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
