How to see live the passage of the green comet that can be seen every 50,000 years

the comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF), better known as green kite, it will be visible tonight from mainland Ecuador. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to catch a glimpse of this astronomical event, as its elliptical trajectory brings it to Earth once every 50,000 years.

Although the distance, in astronomical terms, is not surprising for a celestial body, it is for humans. The last time the green comet was glimpsed in the sky, humanity was still in its early stages of development.

Besides the time it takes to see the comet, there is another reason why it is so popular: its characteristic green color. Although the comet is made up of gas, rocks and dust, just like the others, C/2022 E3 is distinguished by its brilliant greenish hue.

On the night of this Wednesday, February 1, the comet will be close enough to Ecuador to observe it, however, it all depends on how clear the sky is.

Amateur astronomers who want to experience the comet can head to high places and bring telescopes or binoculars. From 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. this Thursday will be the best time for observation. The next two days you can also see the green body.

How to watch the passage of the green comet live
