On February 1, Raiffeisenbank stopped accepting US dollars and euros in cash at its ATMs. It is reported by RBC with reference to the statement of the credit institution.

The bank explained this decision by the fact that customers’ needs have changed. “The number of such operations has become insignificant, and the technological difficulties of this process have not gone away. Without this function, the availability of ATMs for more popular ruble transactions will increase,” Raiffeisenbank representatives explained.

At the same time, customers will be able to deposit cash in bank branches. Operations are carried out without commission and without restrictions on the amount.

Since March 2022, there has been a restriction on the withdrawal of cash foreign currency in Russia, in August it was extended until March 9, 2023. You can withdraw only $10,000 or the same amount in euros, regardless of the deposit currency. Banks can also sell to citizens only euros and dollars that came to their cash desks after April 9, 2022. There are no restrictions on the sale of other currencies.

In September 2022, the Central Bank allowed banks to issue cash to customers from foreign currency accounts and deposits credited since September 9 in rubles at the bank’s exchange rate. Prior to this, the amount of the payment should have been no less than that calculated at the official rate of the Bank of Russia.
