The little boy did not stop playing and running around the corridors of the Community Surveillance Unit (UVC) with an energy typical of his two years. He was oblivious to the diligence that he carried out for five hours: the expedited procedure hearing to judge a violation of domestic violence that his mother committed by kicking him over and over again.

This event occurred on the morning of Monday, January 30, in the Quillán Loma sector, Izamba parish located in the north of Ambato. It was captured by one of the residents of the place who spread the video on social networks.

The National Directorate of Specialized Police for Boys, Girls and Adolescents (Dinapen), the Cantonal Board for the Protection of Rights of that town, the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion (MIES), the Tungurahua Judicial Council, intervened in the case. among other instances.

Hours after the video was released, the woman was apprehended and the minor was temporarily handed over to one of his maternal relatives. For this reason, on the morning of Tuesday the 31st, the audience was held at the UVC.

After the investigation, Denis Andrade, director of the Tungurahua Public Defender’s Office, reported that they acted technically in favor of both the victim and the defendant, based on the evidence presented. He said that the facts exist, the assault on the minor and that both the mother and the child have been identified.

The woman is 21 years old and is pregnant, so she cannot be detained. She is free, but it has not been ruled out that she assumes any sanction 90 days after giving birth, as established by law.

The official said that protection measures were issued for the minor. One of them is to take custody from the mother and hand it over to a maternal aunt of the child, who since yesterday, Monday, has been taking care of the child due to the known circumstance.

The child’s mother was also prohibited from approaching the child and acts of persecution of both the aunt who is caring for the child and the infant were prohibited. It was also ordered that the mother and the minor undergo psychological treatment.

Andrade commented that the judge’s measures must be fully complied with and that even the help ticket must be activated immediately in case the parent wants to approach the infant or the aunt.

He also said that the judge ordered that follow-up be done through Social Work and the authorities so that they are informed every month about the pregnancy status of the woman.
