On the territory of a waste processing plant in the north of Moscow, a box with the inscription “shells for howitzers” was found, which contained explosives, flares and cartridges, RBC reports citing a source in the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow. It is noted that the information was confirmed by a source in the territorial police department.

The find was made on Saturday, January 28th. According to the interlocutor of the agency, an employee of a private security company called the duty unit and said that a suspicious box was found on the territory of a waste processing plant located in Signalny Proezd, while sorting waste.

Inside the box, they found an explosive package for the compartment and deck (31 pieces), a deck explosive bag (36 pieces), an explosive bag for the ship’s compartment (71 pieces). Also in the box were signal cartridges, packets of saltpeter and gunpowder. The examination established that these explosives are used for conducting training sessions on the ships of the Navy in simulating the firing of guns.

A criminal case has been initiated on the illegal acquisition and storage of explosives or explosive devices (part 1 of article 222.1 of the Criminal Code), the maximum punishment under this article is up to 8 years in prison. The origin of the detected explosive packages is established.
