Waves of more than two meters will reach the continental and insular coast during the weekend

A wave that could exceed two meters in height, coming from the northwest of the Pacific Ocean, will take place this weekend along the entire Ecuadorian coast, both continental and insular.

This was indicated this Friday, January 27, by the Oceanographic and Antarctic Institute of the Navy (Inocar) through its Twitter account. This is updated information that corresponds to the entity’s analysis system.

The arrival of this swell, of high intensity, to the Galapagos Islands will be felt from this Saturday, January 28; while for the continental coast it will be from Sunday 29.

The conditions of the high intensity waves have caused affectation in several locations during these days.

In San Jacinto, the force with which the waves broke caused the water to enter the boardwalk and several streets.

This caused the Sucre cantonal Emergency Operations Committee (COE) to be declared on maximum alert.

Cojimíes (Manabí) and Salinas (Santa Elena) also recorded the entry of sea water into several nearby streets.
