A group of antisocials set up an ambush against four police officers who were traveling in a vehicle in the Unidos por la Paz cooperative, belonging to the Nueva Prosperina district, in the northwest of Guayaquil.

As a result of the attack, a police officer was killed and another was injured.

The perpetrators were in two cars, apparently committing some crime when the car passed by the sector in which they were located with the policemen who belong to the prison contingency unit and were on their day off.
The event occurred in the early hours of this Friday, January 27, and after the attack, the Police carried out an operation in which five suspects were apprehended.
Christian Mayorga, head of the Prosperina district, pointed out that despite the efforts to transfer one of the uniformed officers who was attacked, he died on the way to the Mount Sinai hospital.
The other agent who was injured remains hospitalized.

In addition to the five detainees, the Police retained a motorcycle and a car reported stolen in which the antisocials were presumed to have mobilized to attack the police officers.
The Nueva Prosperina district is the one with the highest incidence in Guayaquil. (YO)
