Police units from the preventive and intelligence axis detected a family that was apparently linked to a criminal gang for the distribution of drugs in the Sergio Toral cooperative, in the northwest of Guayaquil.
From that house, the group, according to the Police, also dispatched firearms to commit other crimes.

A 53-year-old woman; Her husband, 51, and their daughter, 21, were the ones apprehended in the intervention of a home in that popular sector.
According to judicial records, the lady has a criminal record for illicit drug trafficking and her husband has seven judicial records for robbery, possession of weapons, home invasion and possession of controlled substances.
Among the evidence found in the house were 37 blocks wrapped in plastic, which would be marijuana, and 15 blocks and cocaine sleeves, apparently.
In total, 150,000 doses of cocaine base paste and 75,000 doses of marijuana were withdrawn from the market.
Two firearms were also confiscated, a 30 M1 carbine that has a modified barrel, and a submachine gun that records cuts in the barrel and rear part to limit its length.
This weapon apparently could have been used in violent attacks in sectors of the northwest of the city, according to the Police.
Christian Mayorga, head of the Nueva Prosperina district, gave details of this operation.
He indicated that a strong police contingent will be arranged to continue confronting the extortionists of commercial premises and people who carry firearms.

In recent weeks several cases of extortion of commercial premises have occurred in different sectors of the Nueva Prosperina district.
The police chief recommended that if someone is a victim of extortionists, they should ask the Police for support to take the procedure.
So far this year, 20 firearms have been confiscated and 25 arrested for different crimes in this district. (YO)
