They steal 150 weapons that were in the Guayaquil police station

Thefts in Guayaquil are not only in the streets. The Police have suffered a theft of a supply of weapons within one of their own units in Guayaquil.


It is about the disappearance of 150 Smith & Wesson pistol-type firearms, which were stored in two wooden boxes.

This apparent theft has occurred in the Modelo district of the La Atarazana circuit, in the north of Guayaquil.


Sergeant Bernardo V., who was in charge of the left-luggage rake, reported that while inspecting the weapons, he noticed that the two wooden boxes containing 150 firearms were empty.

According to preliminary reports, that sergeant was in the care of the crew since March 16 along with Corporal Tomás T., who left on vacation on May 6. A day later, on May 7, Corporal Juan A.

The police report states that Corporal Juan A. indicated that on May 13 he would have observed that the boxes contained only one firearm, but he was unaware that the boxes contained more pistols.

The deputy commander of Z-8, the head of the Judicial Police, the head of Criminalistics, among other officers, came to see the case.

This Sunday night, the National Police confirmed this theft of weapons that remained in the rake of a unit.

“Given the facts, specialized units were ordered to investigate the case and find those responsible,” the entity said in a statement.

The disappearance of the weapons is being investigated as a theft by the authorities.
