The force of the sea in recent days has generated damage in several coastal towns in Ecuador, this after a wave that arose last week and a flood that caused damage since last Sunday.

At the moment, damages are reported in three houses and in the front of a three-story building located in the community of Las Gilces, in the Crucita area. Of the three houses, one of them has damage to the front, the other two were affected in the patio by the water.

To prevent the people residing in those houses from suffering consequences, they were relocated with foster families. In total, according to Sergio García, director of the Risk Department of the Municipality of Portoviejo, 18 people were evacuated as a precaution since Sunday.

In addition to Las Gilces, in the community of Los Ranchos there were also damages due to the removal of the breakwater located as protection in a section of that locality; The third zone with damage due to sinkholes is near the sector known as the Crucita hill.

García said that support has been provided in conjunction with the Manabí Provincial Council (CPM) and the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP), but he acknowledges that the issue of aid goes beyond the force of the sea, and therefore indicated that He hopes that between this Thursday and Friday, when the water level drops, it will be possible to intervene in the relocation of breakwaters.

“This aguaje has not been seen in many years and the logistical level we are having provides it with all the necessary support, but the CPM and MTOP are also waiting for the location of more breakwater in quarries,” Garcia indicated.

A team of machinery from the Municipality of Portoviejo has settled in Crucita, even more so with the announcement of Inocar, that from this Saturday a new wave will be presented on the Ecuadorian coast. (YO)
