In Punta Carnero, the sea water reached the road due to aguaje conditions

This Tuesday afternoon there was a higher than usual rise in the sea on the Punta Carnero beach, in the Salinas canton, due to the period of water on the Ecuadorian coast.

Several citizens watched in amazement as the sea water passed to the edge of the road, for which the vehicles had to travel with caution.

Personnel from the Ecuadorian Transit Commission (CTE) placed several cones and remained in the area in a preventive manner.

Despite the level of the waves, this afternoon, there were those who took the opportunity to fish and others dedicated themselves to photographing the sunset, taking due precautions.

While in Salinas the sea level rose although no news was recorded.

Wave conditions will intensify on the coasts during the weekend due to the presence of aguaje

For now, the authorities maintain free vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Malecón avenue. There, activities are carried out normally.

In a tour carried out this morning, it was also evidenced that in a section of the Mar Bravo beach, the sand space decreased by about three meters, as a result of the strong waves and aguaje.

The dimension of what happened could be determined due to the fact that the laboratory tube system was exposed, when regularly they pass buried between three or four meters under the sand.

This situation was taken advantage of by the workers of these companies to maintain the pipes and reinforce them, since a new period of waves is expected on January 28.

The Oceanographic Institute of the Navy reported that the period of aguaje will extend until January 24. Due to this increase in sea level, the effects of waves that currently affect local coasts could be felt with greater intensity, the entity detailed. (YO)
