The Russian striker of the Cypriot “Aris” Alexander Kokorin told Foot Mercato that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine does not concern football players.
Answering the question about what his attitude as a football player is to the situation with Ukraine, Kokorin said: “I can say that we cannot influence this conflict. So maybe it’s better to think it’s none of our business.”
“As you know, my business is to play football, to play football in Cyprus. We just have to play, ”said the athlete.
In addition, Kokorin said that he would like to play for the Russian national team in an official match, but in a different situation. “Of course, I really want to return to the national team. Playing in the T-shirt of the Russian national team is an incredible feeling, but not in such a situation as it is now, ”the striker explained.
Recall that since the beginning of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the football team of the Russian Federation has been suspended from international matches and in 2022 held only friendly matches with the teams of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Kokorin plays for Aris on loan from the Italian Fiorentina, in 16 matches for the Cypriot team he scored seven goals and made three assists.
