Moscow topped the list of regions with the highest number of crimes committed in 2022 in relation to population. The relevant data is published on the information and analytical portal of legal statistics of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the department, the top five most criminal regions also included the Krasnodar Territory (2nd place), the Moscow Region (3rd place), St. Petersburg and the Chelyabinsk Region (4th and 5th respectively).
During the year, 138,180 crimes were committed in Moscow, 77,125 in the Krasnodar Territory, 74,054 in the Moscow Region, 62,971 in St. Petersburg and 62,844 in the Chelyabinsk Region.
At the same time, the Yaroslavl region became the leader in terms of the increase in the number of crimes last year: in this region, the level of crimes increased by 14.3%. It is followed by the Tomsk Region and the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug – the increase was 10.5% and 8.8%, respectively.
Moscow (10,709 crimes), Krasnodar Territory (4,530) and Moscow Region (3,797) are also leaders in the number of economic crimes.
