Almost 100 drugs have been added to the closed part of the State Register of Medicines, in respect of which the authorities see risks of shortages in 2023. This is reported by Pharmvestnik with reference to the document.

In total, there are 97 items on the list – 88 generic drugs with different dosages or in different dosage forms.

The list is compiled by an interdepartmental commission created by the Ministry of Health in May 2022 to prevent a shortage of drugs. This commission can issue a permit for the temporary circulation of drugs in foreign packaging or allow the import of unregistered drugs into Russia.

The list includes, for example, ibuprofen, paracetamol, aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), the steroid drug prednisone, the diphtheria, whooping cough and tetanus vaccine (DTP), the antibiotics amoxicillin and doxycycline, activated charcoal, lidocaine, iodine solution and corvalol tablets and drops (peppermint leaf oil + motherwort extract + ethyl bromoisovalerianate) and other medicines.

With regard to 44 drugs, the Commission issued a conclusion on the possibility of accelerated registration of medicines, for 11 medicines, permissions were issued for circulation in Russia in foreign packaging, and 7 permissions were issued for the temporary circulation of a series or batch of unregistered drugs. Also, 80 permits were issued to make changes under the reduced procedure.
