Police arrested four subjects who are presumed to have arrived in Manta to commit a criminal act

MANTA, Manabi

Four people were apprehended on the morning of Monday 8 in the Tarqui parish, in Manta, after police officers noticed their suspicious attitude when they were moving in a red car.

Before the uniformed men, according to Patricio Armendariz, chief of the Manta Police District, they stated that they came from the north of Guayaquil to this Manabi canton to carry out “a job” at the request of a woman who fled the area.

The people acknowledged that they managed to interview a woman, and that she was mobilizing in a gray vehicle. Precisely, upon realizing the police intervention, the female managed to flee the place in another car.

After a search, in the gray vehicle, which was occupied by the woman, a Colt .45 caliber weapon was found, in addition to 15 ammunition and 3 magazines for that firearm.

For now, the activity carried out by those apprehended in Manta is being investigated by police agents. However, there are suspicions that they intended to commit a crime, since two of them have a criminal record for robbery and possession of weapons, Armendariz acknowledged.

“Apparently they would not have a useful job to do in this place, rather they were planning to carry out a possibly violent activity in the city of Manta …”, declared the police chief, presuming that they possibly had planned to commit some illicit act in the Manabi port.

Those apprehended were left to the orders of the competent authorities to determine their legal situation.

“Apparently they came to work, but the activities are not carried out with a firearm,” added the police chief. (I)
