At least 38 people have died and five are still missing as a result of floods in the Philippines. This is reported by TASS with reference to the report of the National Council for the Prevention of Risks and Elimination of Natural Disasters.
It is reported that inclement weather has affected more than 1.94 million people in 14 regions of the republic.
According to the department’s calculations, conducted since January 12, 116.6 thousand displaced persons are in 316 evacuation centers. At least 14.3 thousand people left their homes in advance, 12 citizens received various injuries. In 14 regions of the republic, more than 1.37 thousand incidents related to the impact of the elements were recorded, including floods and landslides.
The elements damaged 1.78 thousand houses, the damage amounted to 3.72 million pesos ($68.4 thousand). Damage to 205 infrastructure facilities is estimated at 280.2 million pesos ($5.13 million), agriculture – at 777.5 million pesos ($14.2 million). The floods damaged 306 roads and 65 bridges and affected 35 seaports. In 68 cities, power outages were recorded, but in 61 it has already been restored, in eight municipalities there are problems with water supply, in three – with communications.
Schools and businesses have been suspended in 622 cities and 151 municipalities. A state of emergency has been introduced in 84 settlements. The government has already allocated 101.1 million pesos ($1.85 million) for assistance.
