Due to internal water leaks, a house located in the Lazareto neighborhood collapsed early this Monday morning.
The house already had humidity problems and, therefore, its owners were forced to leave to rent elsewhere, because the danger was imminent.
The neighbors say that this has always been a risk area, which is why they ask for immediate intervention from the authorities.
It was 1:00 a.m. when Rosa Zúñiga, a nun who lives in the area, heard a loud noise that disturbed her sleep.

At first he thought it was a traffic accident, but when the sun came up he saw that the house across the street had collapsed.
This tragedy did not take her by surprise, because in her daily walk she already noticed that the pavement was opening up and, in the midst of that, a large amount of water was circulating.
Their concern started from the middle of last year, but no one came to help them.
The foundation of the house fell about three meters from the level of the main road. At first glance, it seemed that an earthquake occurred there or a bomb fell: everything was destroyed, a situation that, as expected, afflicted its owner, Sonia Criollo.
She explained that about six months ago her peace of mind was disturbed, because the internal cracks were larger, the humidity in the walls was more evident and, as a result, bad odors began to be generated and rats began to appear.

During this time, he invested in some internal fixes, but nothing was enough. For this reason, he went to rent another house far from the neighborhood where his grandparents, uncles and other relatives also live.
He said that on some occasion he went to the Ombudsman’s Office to ask for advice, but the answer they gave him was that this was a long process and that requesting an intervention from the Municipal Drinking Water Company was a long and complex issue.
For her part, Susana Sáenz, a relative of the affected person, said that the problem of water filtration has been “lifelong.” When the track was made of dirt, from the upper part the liquid fell directly on them; and, when they paved it, they thought that everything was going to be solved.
Just below the hill where the water falls is the house of Édison Miguitama’s father-in-law, who defended himself by saying that it is not because of his retaining wall or the tubes he placed on the rock, since all this was installed by technicians from the drinking water company.
Regarding the tubes that come from under his other house, located in the upper part, he assured that what he does is rather avoid accumulation. He also recognized that this is a risk area; In his opinion, this was caused by nature, because the water sought its natural outlet.
Another detail that Rosa Zúñiga noted is that several buildings in the area do not respect the setback margins between the ravine and the building, which made her wonder if they have a municipal permit or not, because there is fear that this will happen again in any moment.
Technicians from the Electric Company arrived at the site to remove a public lighting pole, because the base was at risk and was about to fall, with the risk that the drama would be greater.
Officials from the Municipal Risk Management Secretariat were also present to verify the flow of the water and find out if that was actually the reason for the collapse, but until noon they did not give an official report on the matter.
