Losing weight in a dream is not a myth at all. As nutritionist Elena Solomatina told Evening Moscow, the breakdown of fats at night really happens actively if you follow the daily routine and eat right.
The expert explained that this process occurs due to the production of growth hormone. In children, it promotes growth during sleep, and in an adult it is responsible for the repair of muscle tissue, and this contributes to weight loss. That is, the more muscle tissue a person has, the more mitochondria (cells) in which fat is burned more actively.
“In the recommendations for high-quality weight loss, in addition to simply maintaining an active lifestyle, a full sleep is necessarily noted (from 23:00). If a person does not fill up the norm, then he produces cortisol, which inhibits weight loss, ”said Solomatina.
She added that in people with a disturbed daily routine, the process of losing weight is worse, but in people with more developed muscle mass, this process will proceed faster due to the fact that it has more mitochondria that break down fats.
At the same time, the expert emphasized, any person who observes a sleep schedule (8 hours a day) can count on a faster weight loss process. At the same time, it is impossible to lose weight fully only in a dream; it is also necessary to maintain physical activity.
The nutritionist also noted the factors that affect the quality of sleep and, as a result, the process of weight loss in sleep.
1. The darker the room, the better. It is necessary to fall asleep in a dark room, this contributes to a better production of the hormone melatonin, which is responsible for the quality of sleep. Therefore, it is important to exclude time before bed for gadgets (phone or computer), as they negatively affect the process of falling asleep.
2. The temperature in the room. Too high room temperature affects the quality of sleep and, as a result, the process of losing weight.
3. Alcohol. Surprisingly, it has a positive effect on the process of falling asleep, however, it negatively affects the awakening process and reduces the sleep time itself. But as the doctor clarifies, a glass of wine is enough to strengthen a night’s sleep, too much alcohol can adversely affect health.
4. The presence of oxygen in the room. Stuffiness in the room negatively affects the quality of human sleep. Therefore, it is always necessary to ventilate the room at night.
5. Proper nutrition. As for the products that should be abandoned for a more successful diet, here the nutritionist noted that dinner should be light and protein.
