The dog handler told whether friendship between a man and a dog is possible

The relationship between people and dogs from the point of view of the human psyche corresponds to the idea of ​​friendship, says Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation (RKF).

According to RIA Novosti, Golubev stressed that dogs are social animals that need constant strong contacts. The owner becomes the main object for the dog, the dog is guided by him, the person is a kind of mentor for the animal. “Shifting human feelings to animals, we call such relationships friendship, because in reality a dog is an important family member for many, just like you become a family for her,” Golubev emphasized.

At the same time, according to the expert, some pets express affection more emotionally, while others are more restrained, but the connection occurs in any case. Attachments develop through close contact, play, petting, working together, feeding. In this case, the main connections in the dog are established from birth and up to three to five months. During this early period of life, the character of the dog is formed, the puppy learns to react and interact with the environment in which it is located. The connections and contacts developed during this period play an important role in establishing the behavioral models of a dog for its entire life, Golubev emphasized.

It is at this moment that strong ties with the owner can be formed, however, for this, he must pay attention to the pet, become for him a reliable leader who can be trusted. The expert called the puppy’s trust in the owner and recognition as its leader the key to stable behavior in the future. It is this kind of relationship, according to him, that can be called friendship.
