The action of a man dressed in clothing similar to that of the police was evidenced in an attempted kidnapping by a group of individuals in the tenth stage of the Alborada, on the afternoon of this Saturday, January 21. This type of cases is becoming recurrent in Guayaquil.
There, according to what was recorded on security cameras, an all-terrain vehicle was parked in a corner of that stage of the Alborada and in a matter of seconds a motorist wearing clothing similar to that of the police approached the car to address the driver.
After that, seven other individuals who were traveling in other vehicles tried to take the driver, in complicity with the false uniformed man.

The actions of the antisocials were frustrated with the appearance of police personnel who made rounds in the sector, which remains monitored by several security cameras implemented by homeowners.
Given this scenario, residents of the sector expressed their surprise and fear for this kind of event. There, more than twelve hours after the event, an apparent calm was evident, with empty neighborhood security posts and little vehicular traffic, hardly any vehicles leaving or entering the vicinity of the residents’ homes.

A resident of the tenth stage of La Alborada, Raúl, stated that it is now difficult to identify a police officer who effectively seeks to carry out a control or verification procedure, since there have been some cases, such as the recent one, of robberies or other purposes criminals in that area, as well as other city streets or state highways.
Raúl, who lives in the area of the altercation, considered that the increase in cases reported with the misuse of police and transit uniforms involved in false operations is more worrying. In that area, he said, it was the first event of its kind.
“Now you can no longer even trust, yesterday the man because of the issue that he saw him dressed as a police officer and for that reason, in the end he agreed to get out of the car; not even in that one can trust one ”, he maintained.

Another resident of the Alborada sector, Ángel, said that he was about to leave his home when he began to hear calls for help in the vicinity of his home. “It was a tremendous scare,” said the man, who for a few seconds could have been in the middle of the episode.
Faced with this kind of situation, he mentioned that a closure initiative should be pushed again in the streets of the sector so that these criminal acts are not replicated.

On other occasions, citizens have been victims of robberies due to the assembly of false operations.
For example, on January 7, on the Guayaquil-Quevedo highway, about twenty individuals simulated police and traffic control on that highway to stop a heavy vehicle carrying merchandise.
The antisocials used suits similar to those of institutions in these areas and stripped the driver of the load. Part of the stolen boxes were later recovered in uninhabited houses in a private development under construction on the Durán-Boliche road.
Likewise, on the 5th of this month, a man in a suit similar to that of a police officer was part of a gang that robbed drivers on the road to the coast. In recent days, some residents of Samborondón have denounced alleged kidnapping attempts and robberies in sections of La Puntilla.
