In Omsk, the former head of the city police, Yevgeny Bykov, was sentenced to 10 years in a strict regime colony for accepting bribes on a large and especially large scale. It is reported by “RIA Novosti” with reference to the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office.
The verdict was delivered by the Kirovsky District Court of Omsk.
According to investigators, in the period from 2019 to 2021, through his subordinate, who is an intermediary, he received a bribe totaling 6.45 million rubles from the director of Orange massage parlors. For this money, Bykov was supposed to inform him about upcoming inspections. In addition, the chief of police had to provide him with patronage, without bringing him to administrative responsibility.
“In addition, in 2020-2021, the person involved in the case similarly received through his intermediary a bribe in the total amount of 480 thousand rubles for a local resident not to stop the sale of unmarked alcohol and tobacco products, general patronage and connivance in the service. After committing crimes, he was dismissed from the internal affairs bodies, ”the press service explained.
Yevgeny Bykov did not admit his guilt, and during the judicial investigation the defender of the ex-policeman put forward various versions of his innocence, but all of them were refuted. Among other things, the ex-colonel claimed that he had been set up by a subordinate. Earlier, during the trial, an apartment worth 5 million rubles was confiscated from the Bykov family, which was registered to the daughter of a policeman. None of the family members could explain where the girl got her from.
“The court sentenced him for a combination of crimes in the form of 10 years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony with a fine of 20.7 million rubles, with the deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to the performance of the functions of a representative of power, organizational, administrative and administrative law enforcement, state and municipal authorities for a period of 6 years,” the press service added, adding that Bykov was deprived of the special rank of “police colonel”.
The verdict of the court did not enter into force.
