Two dead and three injured in violent events reported over the weekend in Esmeraldas

Until last October, in the province of Esmeraldas there were more than 100 violent deaths.

The Colombian Óscar Santana Conrado, 52, died and three other foreign citizens were injured in a shooting reported on Avenida 26 de Agosto of the San Lorenzo canton, north of the Esmeraldas province.

Police agents who arrived at the site reported that a Colombian man and two Venezuelans were affected by gunshot wounds, around 03:00 on Sunday the 7th.

According to a police report, the victims were gathered at a home in the area and went outside the site after one of them received a call to deliver a motorcycle. While they were waiting for the arrival of the car, the attack occurred.

Those affected were transported in the bucket of a black truck to the Divina Providencia hospital in that border city.

The district command of the San Lorenzo National Police and Subzone 8 are keeping the inquiries in reserve to find those responsible for the attack.

Meanwhile, around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday 6, the violent death of the neighborhood leader Álex Jaramillo was reported inside a two-story house, in the 20 de Noviembre neighborhood, west of the city of Esmeraldas.

Pablo Velasco, police commander of Subzone 8, attended the scene of the crime that would have arisen in a hitman style.

Agents from the Directorate of Violent Deaths and Criminalistics also went to the scene and were in charge of collecting evidence and ballistic indications.

Jaramillo’s body was taken by Forensic Medicine to the Zone 1 Forensic Center in Esmeraldas.

In the neighborhoods 20 de Noviembre and México, in Esmeraldas, there have been several assassinations in the style of hitmen and a threat with an explosive device, since last year.
