Finnish scientists have found which breeds of cats can be considered the most intelligent, writes the portal Onliner.
During the study, 4,300 cats from 26 breed groups were examined to identify various personality traits and behaviors. As a result, in terms of intellectual abilities, the Abyssinian cat was in the first place, the Bengal cat was in the second place, and the Burmese cat was in the third place. In addition, the top ten “smartest” included the Cornish Rex, Scottish Fold, Siamese, Singaporean cats, Turkish Angora and Japanese lynx.
At the same time, as experts note, it is very difficult to reliably measure the mental ability of cats, since each species has evolved to adapt to its niche, and the mental ability that is useful for one species may not contribute to the survival of another. In particular, certain breeds of cats may be more active or friendly towards humans, while others may be neatly kept aloof. “However, each cat is unique, and even within breeds there are significant differences,” the experts emphasize.
