one. QS Ranking and QS Star

February

UISEK entered the QS Latin America University Rankings for the first time. With more than 130,000 academics surveyed around the world, the highest indicator of the UISEK rests in the research area. From 2015 to 2019, there was a 511% growth in citations for paper.

2. SSOTER Award

April

The Association of Occupational Health and Safety Professionals of Ecuador (APSSTEC) awarded the SSOTER Honor Award for excellence in Occupational Health and Safety Management to UISEK, which is the trainer of 60% of health professionals country that develops in said area.

3.UISEK Summer School

April

Thanks to the Summer School organized by UISEK, university students and teachers from Brazil, Poland, Colombia and Chile came to the country to strengthen their ties through academic activities and cultural exchange under the theme “Transforming the World: Sustainable Development Goals”. .

4. Game DevUp Tournament

May

The Game DevUp Tournament developed by UISEK and Robotic Minds rewarded children, youth, and adults between 6 and 27 years of age who created their own video game based on the different myths and legends of Ecuador.

5. Engineering Week

July

UISEK students were awarded for their innovative inventions, such as the production of cricket meal-based feed and the identification of PCBs, created to offer a solution to the planet’s main environmental problems.

6. Law degree accreditation

August

Committed to continuous improvement, UISEK obtained accreditation for its Law degree through CACES. The program was rated satisfactorily for its teaching, research, ties to society, and pre-professional practice standards.

7. Inauguration of academic period

June

As every year, the UISEK inaugurated its 2022-2023 academic period through a solemn session that included the visit of Dr. Andrés Pastrana, former president of Colombia, who gave a keynote talk on “Education and the future”.

8. Ecuador Exports

November

UISEK held its annual event “Ecuador exports” with the presence of the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Daniel Legarda. This space organized by the Business School had different experts who discussed the situation of post-pandemic foreign trade.

9. AD Scientific Index 2023

November

UISEK is in the “AD Scientific Index 2023” World Scientist and University Rankings 2023 in position 24 and with 12 researchers ranked among the best worldwide.

10. Award at BAQ

November

The work “Pioneras de la arquitectura ecuadoriana”, carried out by the UISEK and the UCE, was the winner in the Printed Books category at the XXIII Pan-American Architecture Biennial of Quito. In this space, essays and posters by students and graduates of the UISEK Architecture career were also exhibited.

11. EC Tech Hackathon

November

UISEK sponsored the first edition of the EC Tech Hackathon, which brought together young experts and university students from all over the country, to solve real problems through the development of new technologies, in areas such as mobility, agriculture, industry and sustainable companies.

12. Health Open House

December

Throughout the year, UISEK has received multiple schools in Quito to offer a real experience to its students interested in becoming a professional in Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Psychology or Biomedical Sciences. This, through activities such as body paintingDNA analysis, CPR, video speakers and the preparation of a tooth in the laboratory.
