Around a ton of drugs was thrown into the sea by boat crews, after noticing a naval presence; occurred about 35 miles from Manta

Some 33 jute sacks that contained drugs were thrown into the sea after those who mobilized the drugs in a boat were discovered by air-maritime exploration ships of the Ecuadorian Navy.

The discovery of the boat that transported the drugs occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, at the height of the Cabo Pasado community, about 35 miles north of Manta, said Cristian Fiallos, commander of the Coast Guard Subcommand in this manabita port.

After leaving the drug in the water, with a satellite buoy, the crew of the boat fled.

“Our coast guard (Rio Tangare boat) picked up this cargo and brought it in for the pertinent legal procedures,” said Fiallos.

The weight of the seized drug would reach one ton.

Fiallos pointed out that so far in 2021 the Ecuadorian Navy has collaborated with the detection of approximately nine tons of drugs, including this latest shipment detected in the northern area of ​​Manabí.

“These criminal organizations have some routes and we have already been able to identify some of those and modus operandi, according to that we are guiding our operations,” Fiallos stressed.

Last Saturday, October 30, 46 nautical miles from Manta, another similar case occurred. In that operation, a total of 25 jute bags with at least one ton of drugs were thrown into the sea by subject and later collected by naval teams.(I)
