Nautical, recreational and sports activities remained suspended, according to the statement issued several days ago by the Port of Salinas Captaincy.
But this decision would enter into analysis according to the state of the sea this Saturday, January 21, when a period of aguaje (syzygy tide) is expected, which will cause the water level to increase above its normal limits.
“It is recommended to maintain and reinforce the security measures in the execution of maritime and recreation activities from that date (January 21), especially on the coastal edge where the arrival and impact of this wave will take place, and they will be felt at the same time the effects of the aguaje”, it was pointed out in a bulletin released last Thursday by the Oceanographic and Antarctic Institute of the Navy (Inocar).
Due to the periods of waves that have been followed and with the new announcement of the aguaje, the tourism sector on the coastal edge of the province of Santa Elena is also affected.
This was indicated by Luis Tenempaguay, leader of the Provincial Chamber of Tourism, who added that the visitors are not arriving.
