A custodial sentence of 26 years, in addition to a reparation of $ 20,000 in favor of the victim, was the conviction imposed by the Court of Criminal Guarantees against Emilio PB for the crime of femicide of his partner, Cristina M.
The act of blood that shocked the Pamatug village, in the Pelileo canton, occurred on April 7 of this year. When police personnel arrived at the scene, they found injuries and bruises that ultimately caused the woman’s death.
At the trial hearing, the prosecutor in the case, Alexandra Sánchez, recounted the events of that day. It indicated that the victim’s niece found the lifeless body of Cristina M. in an alley outside the home.
Through a statement, the Prosecutor’s Office reported that according to the investigation it was learned that several people had observed the woman when she was arguing with Emilio PB, who after a few minutes of that fact noticed the woman’s body on the floor with various blows and cuts to the head.
He also reported that the person responsible for the act of blood was captured on the afternoon of April 11 in Babahoyo, because after having committed the crime he fled the site.
It was reported that the Prosecutor’s Office demonstrated the participation of Emilio PB in the femicide with testimonial, expert and documentary evidence, including the report of recognition of the place of the events and indications (a bottle peak and glass fragments), the record lifting the corpse.
In addition, the report of the medico-legal autopsy that determined a violent death due to an acute external hemorrhage, laceration of cervical blood vessels and penetrating cervical trauma with a sharp object; the investigative report of the National Directorate of Investigation of Crimes Against Life, Violent Deaths, Disappearances, Kidnapping and Extortion (Dinased), versions, capture of images of a security video in which the accused is observed hours before the death of the woman.
