Family cycling route inaugurated in the Cerro Blanco Protected Forest, in Guayaquil

The bicycle path was built with the financial collaboration of Almacenes Tía.

In order to encourage sports and family activities, the Cerro Blanco Protected Forest inaugurated a new cycling route last Friday, October 29.

The route is called Green Wheel and is 4 kilometers long. It begins at the park entrance (at km 16 of the road to the coast) and continues to a picnic and rest area, then proceeds to one of the forest viewpoints and returns to the starting site. It is a wide gravel road, about 5 meters wide, of basic difficulty, ideal for children.

“It is a new alternative that allows us to travel 4 kilometers, where we have incorporated a self-guided trail and rest areas so that they can enjoy this beautiful forest (…) it is a route made for the family, for the Guayaquil community, in general, ”said Elcira Cedeño, executive director of the Pro-Bosque Foundation, who stressed that the initial idea for the project came from Tanía Ríos, tourism coordinator of the Cerro Blanco Protective Forest.

On the cycling route you can see the flora and fauna of the place, especially large trees and birds. The Cerro Blanco dry forest is the best preserved in Ecuador and has a total of 6,078 hectares.

To build the route they received the financial collaboration of Almacenes Tía. One of the directors of this company pointed out that in addition to the construction of this road, they are collaborating with the main bicycle lane from the road to the coast and they placed garbage cans from Puerto Azul to km 15, which was a constant request from the residents of the sector.

Rueda Verde is open to the public from Saturday, October 30.

The prices of the Cerro Blanco Protected Forest are as follows:
