In St. Petersburg, near Vosstaniya Square, the driver of a Nissan Almera car ran into people who were walking along a pedestrian crossing and fled the scene of an accident. It is reported by RBC with reference to the press service of the local police.
In a video released by the interior ministry, a car is seen approaching a pedestrian crossing, slowing down briefly, and then hitting at least three pedestrians. Some of them, according to the department, were able to leave the scene of the accident themselves, but later one woman went to the hospital.
“At 17:50, employees of the State traffic inspectorate of the Primorsky district at the intersection of st. Dolgoozernaya and Planernaya stopped the specified car Nissan Almera under the control of a 42-year-old citizen,” the report says.
The driver was detained, and protocols were drawn up against him on an administrative offense under Part 2 of Art. 12.27 (“Failure to perform duties in connection with a traffic accident”) and art. 12.18 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (“Failure to provide an advantage in traffic to pedestrians or other road users”). The maximum punishment under these two articles is arrest for up to 15 days.
