An artisanal type semi-submersible was found stranded on a beach in the north of the province of Esmeraldas, this Tuesday the 17th.

Through information from military intelligence, uniformed officers from the Police and Armed Forces found the vessel half-buried on the seashore, in the Camarones sector,

After the discovery, several investigative procedures were carried out to verify if any indication was found that would clarify the presence of the vessel in that place.

Locals reported the presence of the strange ship, which had no similarity with the fishing boats.

Investigative units were deployed at different points to identify who this semi-submersible belongs to and establish if it responds to any presumed criminal situation. No further details of the ship have been reported, whether it would have been dragged by the waves or suffered some mechanical damage and drifted in the sea.

The National Police continues with the investigations and calls for information if they have it, in order to clarify this fact, it was reported.

In June 2018, Marines found a similar 20-meter-long vessel to transport up to 10 tons of cocaine in a single trip.

In December of the same year, in the El Cauchal sector, on Santa Rosa Island, located about 40 minutes by river from the port of San Lorenzo, another semi-submersible 60% of its construction was also found in a shipyard.

Years ago, in the Limones sector, in the Eloy Alfaro canton, through the so-called Operation Progress, the location of another handcrafted semi-submersible and various evidence of navigation (such as technological satellite tracking equipment, charts, etc.) were allowed. (YO).
