Landslides caused closure of the Loja-Catamayo highway

The Loja-Catamayo highway was closed to vehicular traffic on the afternoon of this Sunday, January 15, due to two landslides that occurred in the last 20 kilometers of the so-called new road.

Dozens of drivers this Sunday had to return with their vehicles to take the old road and be able to reach their destinations.

Others, on the other hand, passed with great difficulty since they were advanced in the section and had to endure mud, rocks, and beatings.

The heavy rains that have fallen in recent days in the province caused the slide of stone material and debris that covered the road.

Three dead and one injured by a large landslide in BaƱos

Agents of the Loja Operational Transit Unit (UTOL) carried out operations in the area to circulate vehicles and prevent new vehicles from entering that risk area due to landslides.

Drivers were asked to drive carefully in the area due to the risk of landslides. (YO)
