Fright gripped the residents of the Turubamba industrial park, in the south of Quito. A loud sound was heard and they immediately managed to see flames in the air. It was the fire of a tanker dedicated to the transport of fuel.

The emergency call came in after noon this Sunday, January 15.
According to preliminary information, maintenance work was being carried out on the vehicle, when suddenly a gas deflagration caused flames throughout the unit.
The tanker was empty, so a major emergency was not triggered.

Members of the Quito Fire Department (CBQ) went to the emergency at the request of the Integrated Security Service ECU911. The injured person was stabilized at the scene and later transferred to the Eugenio Espejo hospital, due to the severity of his burns.
The fire was also controlled, but a disturbing image could be seen when the fire ceased: the tanker was left black, and its structure damaged, as if it were a small can that bent as a result of its exposure to fire.
