Tahuando River overflowed in Ibarra and affected homes and commercial premises

The heavy rain that occurred mainly between the afternoon and night of this Saturday, January 14, in various provinces of the country, caused havoc in some towns. Overflowing of rivers and flooding in certain sectors were the effects of the precipitation that had different intensities.

For example, in Ibarra, the capital of the Imbabura province, the Tahuando River overflowed near the Zuleta farm.

The intense rain would have caused the river to rise, which is why some homes and commercial premises were affected.

This was reported by local digital media, among them, Today in Imbabura, that released a video in which it is observed that the flooding of the river blocked the passage to Ibarra and Cayambe.

In Pichicha, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inamhi) predicted that medium and high level rains would be recorded this weekend, especially in the center and west of the province.

In fact, in Quito, the local Fire Department responded on Saturday afternoon to two floods in homes in the north of the city, in the La Delicia sector.

In the parishes of El Quinche and Guayllabamba they had to attend to emergencies due to the accumulation of water on the roads.

Likewise, the Inamhi reported the presence of rains in provinces such as Carchi, Cotopaxi, Tungurahua, Bolívar, Chimborazo, de la Sierra.

On the coast, Guayas was one of the jurisdictions where the rain was of medium intensity, during Saturday, as in Esmeraldas.

Cities like Guayaquil had flooded streets and the power service was interrupted in northern sectors, among them, on Francisco de Orellana avenue, in La Garzota, Sauces, Mucho Lote and Vergeles. (YO)
