Two new species of frogs from the genus Pristimantis They were described by researchers from the National Institute of Biodiversity (Inabio), Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador and University of California Berkeley in the upper basin of the Napo River.

Both species have well-defined dorsolateral folds.a conical tubercle on the eyelid, a papilla on the tip of the snout, slightly dilated discs and small size.

Pristimantis omarrhynchus It is known from two localities in the provinces of Napo and Sucumbíos. It was recorded on the slopes of the Reventador volcano, between 1700 and 1800, in the evergreen montane and lower montane forests of the eastern Andes.

The type specimens were collected in shrubby vegetation up to approximately 1.5 m from the ground, mostly within the mature forest and some specimens in clearings, forest edges and intervened areas.

Its name is in honor of the Ecuadorian herpetologist Omar Torres-Carvajal, curator of reptiles at the QCAZ Zoology Museum.

While, Pristimantis miltongallardoi lives in the province of Napoin three locations in the eastern foothills of the Andes, in the drainages of the Cosanga River sub-basin.
