On the eve of the New Year holidays, pet owners begin to worry about how their pets will endure the roar of fireworks. Veterinarian Ksenia Mikhailova gave some tips to reduce stress in four-legged friends, Moscow 24 reports.

In particular, houses should have safe corners in which the animal can hide from noise. The passage to them should be unhindered so that the pet does not experience unnecessary stress from the inability to get into the “shelter”.

Worth it for cats create a darkened corner in the house, leave a silicone mat and pate there. This will slow down the food intake and calm the animal.

On New Year’s Eve, it is better to close and curtain the windows. You can turn on the TV or music to reduce the noise level from the street.

In addition, if the owner knows that the pet is under serious stress due to the sound of fireworks, you can contact your veterinarian in advance, who will advise special sedatives for animals. Their reception can be started a couple of weeks before the holiday.
