The current investments made by Papelera Nacional aim at the conservation of natural resources and the environment in the community.

Papelera Nacional, one of the most important corrugated paper and cardboard producers in the country, planted 812 trees in a 2-hectare area as part of the Sembrando Vidas project. This initiative, baptized with the name of Protective Forest Citadel The Parksalso had the support of the Guayas Prefecture.

Authorities such as the Guayas prefect, Susana González, executives from the group’s companies, collaborators and students from the Luis Vernaza School of Basic Education, run by Marcelino Maridueña, participated in the event to launch the project and plant trees, who with effort and enthusiasm they planted a variety of different tree species; among them, mahogany, cedar, Fernán Sánchez, guachapelí, pechiche, oak, laurel, balsam, white and black guayacán.

Luis Arriaga, director of Environmental Management of the Guayas Prefecture, indicated that this is the first mini-forest to be installed in the year and that between 2022 and 2023 they plan to plant 250,000 trees to improve air quality. “All these trees that we have planted today will fulfill their functions when they grow, mainly carbon sequestration and oxygen supply,” he said.
