“The engineer”, as Javier Rosero was known by many, was assassinated by hitmen on the morning of this Friday, January 13, when he was driving along First Street, in Los Ceibos, a few meters from his home.
He was arriving in his truck with his wife when hitmen on motorcycles approached while they were waiting for the traffic light to change and shot him.
Two bullets hit the president of the Los Ceibos committee, who had been promoting improvements in his sector for several years, especially in terms of security.

Although Rosero was taken to a nearby clinic, his death was only confirmed there.
Medical personnel revealed that the 54-year-old man had a bullet wound to the head and another to the neck. His wife was unharmed.
Minutes later, the Forensic Medicine car entered the nursing home to remove the body. Criminalistics and Dinased agents arrived at the hospital to find out details of the attack and start an operation.
First, at the crime scene, at least eight ballistic signs were found. There, witnesses say that the gunmen did not even wear helmets or caps, so they hope that the cameras in the area will allow them to be quickly identified.
This assassination has alarmed the residents of Los Ceibos and those who knew Rosero.

A resident of that neighborhood indicated that some time ago Rosero had helped to capture some thieves and that they had threatened him. He believes that these men followed through on his threat.
Karina, another resident of the sector, commented that Rosero was also trying to supply the UPC located next to the park.
“It seems that they have ordered him to be killed because he was leading a fight against criminals in Los Ceibos,” said the neighbor.
Among Rosero’s initiatives to improve security in the area was also the identification of recyclers.
Rosero told this newspaper last year that this is how they were trying to control the entry of strangers into the traditional neighborhood of Guayaquil.
The leader also mentioned that they had handed over to the local Municipality some projects to regenerate the alleys that connect Los Ceibos and other sectors such as Mapasingue. (YO)
