Rosero was president of the Los Ceibos Committee and was intercepted by hit men when he was returning home with his wife.
“We condemn the cowardly attack on the citizen Javier Rosero. The @policeecuador is activated in the search for the culprits so that their crime receives the full weight of the law,” Lasso said on his Twitter account.
Christian Meléndez, head of the Los Ceibos District, said that the two individuals aboard a red motorcycle reached the car and one of them got out to attack it.
