Twelve years ago, facing the waves of Montañita, the idea of bringing Italian food closer to Ecuadorians and other foreigners who visit that resort under the name of Pigro, a national business that is growing.
Diana Carbonari, general manager of Pigropoints out that it is the first time they have come to Guayaquil and to a shopping center. The investment was “ambitious”, and ensures that with this step they are fulfilling a great “dream”.
Pigro will open its premises in the Food Hall of the San Marino Shopping mall this November 1, 2022, and with this activate ten new sources of employment. “We hope to have many more in our family soon. We make 100% artisan authentic Italian food, specialty coffee… Also looking at the needs of our customers, we have developed gluten-free, sugar-free options and even carbohydrate-free pasta, so that the Pigro experience is for everyone”, says the owner.

Pigro, in addition to its store in Montañita and the first in a shopping center in Guayaquil, has others: one in Manta and another in Quito.
Pigro is followed by Rosa Mezcal, a Mexican food restaurantwhose idea was born in December 2020. Its presence in a shopping center comes with an investment of $90,000.
“The idea was to propose a Mexican food place that is not the typical folkloric place; We wanted to elevate that experience and propose something more complete”, he mentions Juan Andrés Game, owner of Rosa Mezcal.
Pink Mezcal owns a store in Samborondón, and with this new bet he activates fifteen jobs. “(It is a transit and strategic place) where people go that we are interested in having as clients,” she points out.
In this group of restaurants you can also find Bonfy Burger, a national brand that has been on the market for approximately fifteen years.
An Italian restaurant chain will open two stores in Guayaquil and activates more than 80 new jobs
“We started doing them with friends on Sundays: after playing soccer, we would go to my house and make hamburgers. Then, they told me to sell hamburgers at tournaments. Later they called me for parties, and for four and five years we were (doing) every other Sunday in different places, like haciendas. As it was every fortnight, people prepared a lot to go to the hamburgers, and we had between 600 and 800 people for every Sunday that we opened”, says Mauricio Neira, creator and founder of Bonfy Burger.
Since the demand was high, he decided to open a location, but it later closed with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, later they opened in Arcos Plaza, in Samborondón. And now they are coming to San Marino Shopping.
Bonfy Burger added seven workers to its payroll. The Ecuadorian brand offers signature, handmade hamburgers, with sauces. “It has been a strong investment, and a shopping center is a point where people meet, go to relax. It is always good, because the traffic of people makes it move”, says Neira.
This is the profile of the personnel that is already being sought in companies for the Christmas season in Ecuador
Pigro, Rosa Mezcal and Bonfy Burger are part of the eight brands that debut at the Food Hall, a new gastronomic area from the San Marino Shopping mall, from the DK Management Services group.
The opening is on November 1st. An activation of 300 direct and indirect jobs is estimated among the eight local brands: Rosa Mezcal, Bonfy Burger, Gourmet Market, Pigro, NOE, El Español, Go Green and Chokolat.
The area that groups these small and medium-sized companies is distributed in 1,193.51 square meters, where each space has an architectural proposal.
“In total, there are eight local brands that give life to this new area gourmet. Some of them have shared years of history with the shopping center, while there are others that are entering a space of these characteristics for the first time. Together they generate more than 300 direct and indirect jobs,” says Sonia Morán, commercial executive at San Marino Shopping. (YO)
