In the Moscow region, a representative of the so-called “True Orthodox Church” was detained on suspicion of crimes against the sexual inviolability of minors, the website of the RF Investigative Committee reports.
According to the agency, we are talking about Alexander Suvorov, who is a spiritual mentor and head of a local religious organization. At the same time, as stated in the message of the department, the CPI is not related to the canonical Russian Orthodox Church (ROC). Episodes of crimes were committed in 2016–2017.
As Lenta.ru notes, the 85-year-old rector of the Church of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity, who was detained in the Orekhovo-Zuyevsky city district, is suspected of having previously committed the seduction of two teenagers, one of whom was brought by a nun of the monastery six years ago from an orphanage in the Rostov region.
According to the website of the publication “Chekhov-Vid”, as part of the investigation, it is checked whether there were more cases of pedophilia than is now listed in the case file. The publication notes that the rector of the temple often visited the Rostov, Leningrad regions and Abkhazia, where there could be small monasteries of the TOC. In addition, people came to the monastery, believing that the abbot is able to heal the hopelessly sick.
