Ecuadorians who have electric cars will be able to charge them at Banco ProCredit facilities located in the cities of Quito, Ambato and Ibarra for free. This network of charging points is part of a worldwide initiative of the ProCredit Group.

Users will need to download the apps ProCredit Charging Stations, available for Apple and Android. The hours enabled for these stations are as follows: Matrix (Quito), located at av. Atahualpa and Av. Amazonas, from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Ambato, located at av. Jácome Clavijo and av. Atahualpa, is open from Monday to Sunday, 24 hours a day; and Ibarra, which is located in the Laguna Mall Shopping Center, from Sunday to Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

“We know that there are some factors that generate uncertainty in the use of electric vehicles, and one of the most repeated is the scarce network of charging stations in the country. Having our own fleet of cars of this type, we perfectly understand its operation, as well as the importance of the security that a charging network could represent for its proper use. And that was the preamble to the opening of our charging points for the public”, explains Karen Angulo, energy expert at Banco ProCredit.

The three points enabled so far are part of the first phase of this project. The institution plans to increase the network of chargers nationwide. “In the remainder of 2022, for example, we will inaugurate two more charging points, focusing mainly on the cities where we have a physical presence,” adds Angulo.
