On January 11, the San José Board of the Metropolitan District of Quito graduated 18 women who were victims of violence in training and professional development courses, which will allow them to strengthen their entrepreneurial and employability skills.
The 18 women are users of the services provided by the Board through the Casa de la Mujer, the Casa de Adolescente and the Centro de Apoyo Integral Tres Manuelas, which promote actions for the restitution and protection of the rights of women who They have suffered violence.
Since September 2022, women victims of violence and users of the Casa de la Mujer received face-to-face training through the corporate volunteer program signed between the Board of Trustees and the GPF-FEMSA corporation.
They were trained in issues of female empowerment, customer service and sales, internet browsing, basic Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), personal image, preparation of resumes, interviews and personal finances.
The recent graduates will be able to apply to the selection processes of the GPF group and have the possibility of joining the labor market.
At the graduation ceremony, which was held at the Palacio de la Circassiana, the president of the San José Board of Trustees, Mónica Delgado, highlighted that they work together to promote and defend the rights of all women through training and professional development. , in order to strengthen their capacities for entrepreneurship and employability.
What they hope with these programs is to generate a positive impact on the lives of the users, for which they provide tools to expand their field of employment and contribute to their economic independence.
One of the users of the Casa de la Mujer, Marlene (protected name), highlighted after her graduation that thanks to these trainings she will have economic stability, she will work and give her children a better future, without depending on anyone.
The director of the Board of Trustees, Rogelio Echeverría, pointed out that currently the Casa de la Mujer welcomes 40 women along with their daughters and sons, and they have seen an opportunity to start a new life.
The economic empowerment of women who have lived experiences of gender violence will allow economic independence and break the cycle of violence.
In the services provided by the Board, the users receive comprehensive and interdisciplinary attention specialized in psychology, work on access to the law, insertion and reintegration, education, capacity building and leadership.
During 2022, at least 24,471 women and their sons and daughters were benefited through the gender violence care project. (YO)
