An emission of gases and water vapor with moderate ash content emitted the Reventador volcano, on the afternoon of this Wednesday, January 11.
According to the Secretary of Risk Management, citing specialized information from the Geophysical Institute of the National Polytechnic School (EPN), the cloud has a height of 1,000 meters above the level of the crater, with a south-west direction.
In Tungurahua, preventive measures are adopted before the Cotopaxi eruption scenario
The Reventador volcano, explained the Geophysicist, is located in the province of Napo, approximately 90 kilometers east of Quito. It is one of the active volcanoes in Ecuador.
The Geophysicist is the entity that monitors the activity of volcanoes in the country.
There are eight recommendations in case of ash fall:
– Wear a mask to avoid respiratory problems.
– Prevent the ash from entering the eyes by using goggles or protective lenses.
– Do not do outdoor activities.
– Do not use water to clean the ash, since it can clog the pipes.
Strange noises in southern Ecuador come from the activity of the Sangay, reports the Geophysical Institute
– Sweep the ash from the patio and roof and place it in bags.
– Place wet rags in the cracks of doors and windows.
– Store vehicles and machinery to avoid engine damage.
– Protect pets or animals from volcanic ash. (YO)
