South Korean President Yoon Sok-yeol promised to strengthen the military’s surveillance and intelligence capabilities in connection with the actions of the DPRK. It is reported by Interfax with reference to Renhap.
“I believe people have clearly seen the danger of North Korea’s policies,” Yoon Seok-yeol said during a cabinet meeting.
According to him, the incident on Monday clearly showed that the combat readiness of the South Korean armed forces and their training were “extremely insufficient” and need to be strengthened.
“After yesterday’s incident, we will expand the creation of an unmanned aerial vehicle unit as much as possible,” he said.
“We will strengthen our surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities by introducing advanced stealth unmanned aerial vehicles,” the South Korean president added.
North Korea reportedly sent five drones across the demarcation line to South Korea on Monday, and one of them managed to fly over northern Seoul. The remaining UAVs, meanwhile, cruised over Ganghwa Island off the west coast of South Korea.
