Ecuadorian scientist, NASA spokesperson, received the International Fellow 2022 award

José Granda is a mechanical engineer and scientist with 20 years of experience at NASA. He was born in Quito, in the La Alameda neighborhood, but now lives in California, where he works for Sacramento State University and NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration).

His most recent achievement is that The Society of Modeling and Simulation International (SCS) has recognized him as the member of the highest scientific level of the Simulation and Modeling Society with the Fellow 2022 award.

Granda has won this award for his outstanding achievements and contributions to the fields of mathematical modeling and simulations which aim to reproduce the reality of space and ground vehicles. In this way, understanding the application of the laws of physics with which vehicles operate in space or on Earth.

Professor Granda has participated in 17 space missions. One of those was to help put the shuttle into orbit. discovery. Currently, she is collaborating with the Artemis Program, which is the one that will take the first woman to the Moon in 2024. In addition, is the NASA spokesperson for Latin America and Europe.

The scientist has published 14 bookscompendia of scientific writings in their field, as well as approximately 70 scientific documents of his authorship. In this context, The Society of Modeling and Simulation International (SCS) awarded this prize for demonstrating a long-standing commitment to his field of research through four decades of career.

SCS was established in 1952 as a non-profit corporation.
