The Fokinsky District Court of Bryansk has taken into custody a woman suspected of killing a newborn. This is reported by TASS with reference to the joint press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of the Bryansk region.
“According to the decision of the Fokinsky District Court of Bryansk, a preventive measure was chosen for the suspect in the form of detention for a period of two months. The decision has not entered into force,” the statement said.
A criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Art. 106 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Murder of a newborn child by a mother” was initiated in Bryansk on January 9 after the body of a dead newborn was found on the side of the road. According to investigators, after giving birth, the woman strangled the child in the presence of a witness, put the body in a plastic bag and threw it on the side of the road.
“From the materials characterizing the identity of the suspect, it is known that she was one of the orphans and children left without parental care, in connection with which she received state support in the form of an apartment in the Starodubsky district of the Bryansk region. The woman rented this housing, and she herself lived on the territory of Bryansk, ”the press service said.
