New debates: now it is the turn of the aspirants to the mayoralty of Ecuador

On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 January there will be the debate of those who aspire to be mayors of the cantons of the country.

Complying with the provisions of the Democracy Code, now it is the turn of the candidates for this position by popular election. Both in Quito and Guayaquil there will be two groups for the debates. The moderator in the capital will be Gisella Bayona, while in the port it will be Luisa Delgadillo.

For the first time in almost two years, the Golden Globes 2023 will be broadcast live again (on NBC and Peacock).

The Golden Globes will be projected on Tuesday January 10 and will be presented by the comedian and actor Jerrod Carmichael.

The award ceremony hadn’t been televised in two years after a 2021 investigation of Los Angeles Times will reveal that the small organization of film writers awarding the Globes, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), had no black memberswhich caused intense critics and boycotts of the ceremony.

This Thursday January 12 in Latacungaseveral social groups that come together in the conformation of the National Anti-Mining Front will meet to prepare an agenda of strategies to avoid mining exploitation in their territories, among them, the ccall for a preventive strike in the territories where large-scale projects are being carried out.

The Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conaie), Together with other indigenous and territorial leaders, they make up a National Anti-Mining Front that enlists actions to counteract the effects of mining exploitation.

To do this, they invited the social groups to join a national assembly that will take place on January 12 in Latacunga (Cotopaxi), in which defense strategies are expected to be put together. (YO)
